Thanks to the lovely people of TheRocksOff and thanks to the lovely Tabitha Rayne, I was able to review the Ruby Glow.
At Eroticon I already had a quick peek at the Ruby Glow and it had made me quite curious about it. Because for me, clitoral stimulation is the way to go for orgasms. So this definitely seemed like the toy to try out. I’m not the easiest when it comes to orgasms so one more potential way seemed like a good idea.
So taking it out of the box, I immediately tried it on and tried pushing buttons at random. There are two buttons on there, one for every separate motor that is in there. Of course just randomly pushing buttons, you might end up making music with the Ruby Glow. It can do a march quite handsomely. So yes the Ruby Glow definitely has rhythm. So with the two separate motors, you can decide what you want while sitting on it.
First step: Trying to figure out how to sit on it. Because you know, for science, I of course tried it the way it isn’t intended for as well. As well with and without a pillow under it. And of course with a hard chair and a soft one. Because, of course, I need to test it properly under all circumstances. You know… for science! Also still works as a regular toy laying down or standing up, it’s just more of a hassle because you have to hold it. And in my opinion, it’s better with a hard surface underneath you. That way, if you get the right position and spot, it’s not instantly gone if you move.
Playing with the various settings, and with lots of shifting back and forth on it. It definitely works for me in terms of it actually is arousing and hitting the right spots. It does take some practice and some trying out with all the different settings what works for you. Personally I found the clitoris stimulation part a bit hard and I couldn’t find a good spot for it to work for me. The other part I found quite nice and stimulating. Especially just sitting with that part between my legs did the trick for getting enough stimuli.
A few of the patterns cracked me up though, one sounds exactly like your phone going off while on silent with vibration on. I managed to get a tango out of it. Almost got something like it sounding like it’s saying help. So yes, it has some interesting features and rhythms to work with, both along with a continuous vibration and a steady flow of vibrations.
The controls are quite easy to handle with only two buttons. You just have to keep clicking to rotate the pattern and if you want to shut it off, just press and hold the button for a bit. A good feature is that, because of the two separate motors, you can also just only use one of them.
The vibration was also more intense and harder than I would expect and certainly sufficient for proper stimulation. The material was also softer and more smooth than I expected. It does have a funny smell when it comes out of the box, but that’s not uncommon with new toys.
I personally prefer using clitoral toys with at least one layer of clothing, because it can get quite intense and sensitive with direct contact. The vibrations of the Ruby Glow are strong enough to make up for that extra layer and it feels quite nice as well. Because of the smoothness, you can easily slide back and forth on it while not getting friction.
For me, it didn’t do the trick though. It was nice but for me the clitoral part was too rigid and hard. I do like that the fact you have to sit on it and if you do, it’s quite comfortable. And yes obviously, part of this review is written while actually sitting on it. It does make a nice distraction or motivator. It’s all good vibrations!
So in short:
- Good, good vibrations! The two separate motors are easy to match.
- Body safe silicone, easy to clean and splash safe.
- Well designed and long battery life (takes two AAA batteries)
- Sitting on it and hitting the right place takes some practice
- Some movements may feel uncomfortable and hard while sitting on it if you shift or flinch a little when it hits the right spot.
